The school would like parents to follow the campaign called "Once a Week Take a Peek". This emphasises the importance of everyone checking the family's hair for headlice every week and provides information about getting rid of lice if they are found.
Further information can be found at this website www.onceaweektakeapeek.com
We appreciate that treating repeated cases of headlice can be both expensive and uncomfortable for you and your child and it is important that we work together to avoid repeated infestations.
The local authority does not provide a school nurse to check children's hair but families can be referred to the school nurse service if they require additional support. You can also refer yourself through the Early Help Hub by calling 01872 32 22 77. Once per year, all children will bring home a leaflet advising parents about headlice, how to check for them and the different methods of treating them, if they are discovered. Please keep these leaflets safe for future reference.
If you should find headlice in your child's hair, please let your child's teacher know so that we can send out a letter to the class. Please do not be embarrassed about this as headlice are a normal part of life and not something to be worried, panicked or ashamed about.
It would be wonderful if we could make this campaign a success and get rid of the nuisance of headlice, so please take the time to read the leaflet and get into the routine of taking a peek every week!
