The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations
At the end of term we enjoyed celebrating her Majesty's 70 years reign on the throne. We started the afternoon with the most amazing buffet. There were plenty of games and activities for the whole family, from photo booths, sack races, penalty shoot outs and many more. We were lucky that the weather held and families enjoyed the afternoon.
As part of the community events, the whole school entered a writing competition. Kynsa made some stunning crowns, while the rest of the school wrote some amazing pieces of writing. The children were then presented with their prizes in assembly.
We attended a lovely service led by Karsten at the church. For some of us, it was a new experience and has really helped us to understand how Christians practise their faith during the lead up to Christmas. We now know what a Christingle symbolises and represents.
Remembrance Day
Today the children of Pendeen School and some of the local community came together to honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the many conflicts that have impacted our local area and beyond.
Children read some poems that they had composed themselves, followed by a prayer from Rev Karsten.
Children observed the 2 minute silence through their own thoughts and reflections.
Children had the opportunity to work with some actors from London. The children spent time acting out scenes from Romeo and Juliet. Some went to a party and enjoyed silent dancing and chatting. Others took on a fight scene and used their acting skills to good affect.
