Absence Reporting and Attendance

At Pendeen School we believe that school attendance is critical to ensure your child has the best future opportunities in life. Learning the school routine helps cement the education and experiences that your child will have in the future and offers them the best possible outcomes in their adult life.

In order to maximise your child's achievement and give them the best start it is very important that they attend each day, on time.

Absence

Please inform the School Office on 01736 788583 before the school day begins if your child is absent.

Authorised Absence
Circumstances in which the the school may authorise absence are: Illness, Medical Appointments, Major religious observations, Bereavement, Visits to prospective new schools, External exams or educational assessments.
Unauthorised Absence
Leave of absence will not be granted for : Holidays, birthdays, Late arrival, caring for other family members, truancy, parents keeping children off of school unnecessarily, unexplained or not reported absences.

The School Office will call parents if we do not receive a notification of absence. We have a legal duty of care to ensure they are accounted for.

Parents/carers cannot authorise absences and should be aware that informing the school of an absence does not mean it will be authorised.

Please remember that as a parent it is your responsibility to get your child to school on time, every day. Your child is not responsible for being late or for non attendance. However, we acknowledge that morning routines can sometimes be a challenge. If you need any support in getting your child to school please have a chat with your child's Class Teacher or the Headteacher, we can offer advice and strategies to help .
